Our History
Like any good small business story, ours starts with the entrepreneurial passion that James Alderson had to manage real estate investments for his clients during the 2000′s. While selling homes to the general public and real estate investors, his investors approached him to manage their new investments because of the honest hard work ethic James had during their purchase. Like any good entrepreneur, James saw this as an opportunity not just to serve his clients well, but to serve other investors well.
James slowly started Alderson Properties, LLC with one property under management in 2005, which quickly escalated to 100 properties within a few short years. But during this growing time he only added his wife and business partner, Cyndi Alderson, to the team to help him manage his growing business. He never lost touch of his original commitment to his first investors/clients – excellent customer service comes first, second, and last – in all aspects of a relationship.
The real estate bubble of 2008 quickly grew Alderson Properties to 140 properties, the largest it had ever been. The foreclosure market and weak sales market meant more owners needed to rent their properties than avoid selling at a loss. James was up to the task and strived on with his dedicated work ethic. As the market began to rebound in 2010, James helped his satisfied clients sell their properties, and the portfolio slowly dropped back to around 100 properties. It was at this time that James realized he best served his clients by being a “small property management company” (defined as 100 properties or less), because he could dedicate more attention to them and make sure they didn’t become a “number,” they were still people.
Consequently, in 2013, James and Cyndi added to the Team, Kerrick Hutchison, a young passionate property manager. Kerrick joined the Alderson Properties Team in March 2013 after serving other property management firms since he graduated college in 2010. With his unique experience, work ethic, and everlasting dedication to serving his clients and customers would suit the mission Alderson Properties already had in place. Kerrick, like James and Cyndi, was already a member of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM), had won awards as Rookie of the Year through NARPM on the National level and local (James was also Rookie of the Year on the local level the year before Kerrick).
Kerrick shares the same entrepreneurial ambition like James – he strives to make better systems, communicate with his clients and customers quicker and more effectively, and wants to make every party to a transaction more profitable. Kerrick currently handles the day-to-day management of the properties at Alderson Properties and communicates with all owners, tenants, and vendors. James, Cyndi, and Kerrick work day in and day out to make Alderson Properties a stronger brand and more influential in Comal and Bexar Counties for all real estate investors looking for a professional property manager.
You will regularly see James and Kerrick actively involved in their local NARPM Chapter, which they currently serve as President and President-Elect, respectively. The team’s dedication to education, knowledge, and improving their business and clients business is a key aspect to their dedication to the real estate investing industry.
